Step-by-step guides to building apps with NutshellManaging Users
Nutshell allows you to manage three different types of user, each with their own distinct roles and permissions. How many of each user-type you can create depends on your subscription level, but by default all Nutshell instances will allow you to create at least one of each. The first account – created for you when your organisation first signs-up – will be an Admin account, which gives you the necessary permissions to create the others.
- Users
These guys are the end-users of the apps you build in Nutshell: your workforce, filling in forms, generating reports and whatever else you’ve empowered them to do using Nutshell. They will be able to download and log in to the Nutshell container app, and use any apps that have been published to them or any user-groups they belong to. They do not have access to the Nutshell builder. - Builders
These guys can do everything an ordinary User can do, along with some exciting extras. These guys can create their own apps in Nutshell’s builder. Builders can’t manage your Nutshell instance, or meddle with people’s accounts. They can just build apps, as the name suggests. - Admins
These guys can do everything Users and Builder can do, plus they can manage their Nutshell instance, managing users, groups, security policies and whole bunch of other stuff. The first account created for your organisation when you sign-up to Nutshell will be an Admin account. Use these sparingly, and only allocate them to responsible adults!
Pre-flight Checks
Before we begin, let’s make sure you have the right sort of kit. Nutshell is designed to run within a web browser, so all you need is a reasonably recent PC and a good-sized monitor (wider that 2048px across is best, although you can still manage on something smaller).
Although Nutshell should work fine in most modern web browsers, some of them do have a few quirks that can make life unnecessarily difficult. We always recommend using the latest version of Google ChromeDownload Here for the best possible experience.
