Step-by-step guides to building apps with NutshellBuilding a Simple Database-driven App
A business app without data is… well, a bit useless. Which is why Nutshell comes with its own database capabilities baked-in. With Nutshell, you can store, share and manipulate data with your mobile apps, without having to integrate with complicated mobile “back-end” products. What’s more, you can do all this without writing a single line of code.
This tutorial assumes that you’ve already completed all three “Hello World” tutorials, and are familiar with Nutshell’s user-interface and drag n’ drop paradigm. If you haven’t, now would be a good time to do that.
If you have, then fire-up Nutshell and let’s get started.
Pre-flight Checks
Before we begin, let’s make sure you have the right sort of kit. Nutshell is designed to run within a web browser, so all you need is a reasonably recent PC and a good-sized monitor (wider that 2048px across is best, although you can still manage on something smaller).
Although Nutshell should work fine in most modern web browsers, some of them do have a few quirks that can make life unnecessarily difficult. We always recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome for the best possible experience.
